Hi, I’m Emily

I'm a designer driven to improve quality of life. I love the process of creating lasting solutions by juggling tradeoffs, side effects, and integration.

I’m studying Business and Design (Global Business and Digital Arts/GBDA) at Waterloo. In my free time, I’ve been designing for a startup that aims to connect university students with dogs to improve their mental health.

Being in GBDA

Through my education I've learned that for me design is about:

  • Understanding and communicating complex problems

  • Uncovering opportunities by researching and listening

  • Considering the system to deliver practical solutions

I’m looking to grow my UX skills in my co-op term by learning industry best practice in interviews and usability tests. It's important to me that my designs truly meet the needs of people.

Outside of Design

I’ve always been an artist who loves exploring, learning new skills, and spending time with friends. In my free time you'll find me drawing, attending language exchange and exploring volunteer opportunities.

No matter the side quest, my greatest joy is found in learning and meaningful connection.
